Mike Drolet is a Canadian journalist currently working as a Toronto-based correspondent for Global National. For the past 12 years, he has worked in newsrooms in southern Ontario and Quebec. He has covered floods and fires in the province, Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath in New Orleans, and Canadian soldiers on the front lines in Afghanistan.
Talking about his education, he attended and graduated from the University of Western Ontario, and decided to move to Wingham, where his career began. He then moved to Windsor, Montreal, and now Toronto. Mike has reported on natural disasters, including the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. One of the best highlights of his career was when he covered the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
Most recently, he was on the scene as Canadians expressed shock at the unprecedented attack on Parliament in Ottawa. The attack left two people dead. He also followed the story to Hamilton to cover the funeral and inter-provincial procession. When he’s off-duty, he enjoys snowboarding, hockey, and traveling.
