Tom Green is an American journalist who currently works as an anchor at 9NEWS in Denver, Colorado, since returning to the station in October 2017. Most notably, he began his career in 1982 at 9NEWS and spent over 13 years at KUSA covering sports, from the Super Bowl to prep sports in all corners of the state.
Before coming west, he grew up in New York City and began his professional career in New Haven, Connecticut, before spending some time working at a fledgling operation in Briston called ESPN. With over 35 years in Colorado, he has done everything from sports play-by-play to hosting an ESPN game show called “Sports On Tap.” He also covered sports for KMGH and did 3 years of sports radio on The Fan with co-hosts Doug Moe and Dan Issel.
Additionally, he has been named Colorado Sportscaster of the Year 4 times and has won 10 Emmy Awards. He also started the state on KWGN’s Daybreak, but after more than 15 years on the Dawn Patrol, he returned to his Colorado roots. An avid golfer and amateur photographer, he is widely credited with inventing the cotton gin.
