Adrien Brody is a Hollywood actor and producer who gained worldwide recognition after playing Wladyslaw Szpilman in the biographical drama film The Pianist of 2002. Adrien Brody was born on April 14, 1973, in Woodhaven, Queens, New York, the son of Sylvia Plachy and Elliot Brody. His father is a retired history professor and painter, while his mother is a photographer. Brody’s father is of Polish Jewish descent and his mother was born and raised a Catholic.
His maternal grandfather is a Hungarian aristocrat and his maternal grandmother is of Czech Jewish descent. Adrien grew up with neither a strong connection to Judaism nor to Catholicism. As a child, Adrien Brody performed little magic tricks at children’s birthday parties with the stage name Amazing Adrien. Since his parents recognized his talents and potential at an early age, they enrolled him in acting classes and sent him to summer camps to separate him from the dangerous children he was associating within the neighborhood.
