Alan Hahn biography

Alan Hahn is an American journalist who currently works as a sports radio host at ESPN Radio and has been a studio analyst at MSG Network since 2011. He has worked as a sports radio host at ESPN Radio since 2012. Prior to that position, he worked as a writer for New York Knicks newspaper in Melville, NY.

Hahn learned to read as a child by reading the headlines of his hometown newspaper, Newsday. He later attended St Anthony’s High School where he played varsity basketball for the Catholic High School Athletic Association. He later won a basketball scholarship at the LIU Post under the NCAA Division II. The coach at the time was Tom Galeazzi. While there, he wrote for the school newspaper. He graduated by earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

Most notably, his journalist career began at Newday in 1995 as a part-time employee of the sports department. In this position, he answered phones and covered high school games, but was promoted in 1999. Additionally, he won an “Editor’s Award” for Sports Writing in 2000. He also developed a large following for his coverage of the Knicks. In 15 years at Newsday, he covered every professional team in the New York metropolitan area.

Furthermore, he appeared as a regular guest on Knicks Night Live on MSG Network. He appeared in the summer of 2010 and was used as an occasional analyst on Knicks game broadcasts. This was on MSG Network during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. He left Newsday and joined MSG Network. This followed the 2011 NBA lockout. His new role at MSG Network was to act as a studio analyst.

In 2012, he was named host of The Mike Woodson Show. It also features a pre-game segment, The Knicks Fix, which appears before each game broadcast. In the same year, he began appearing as a regular host on ESPN Radio in New York. In 2014, he teamed up with former New York Islanders goalkeeper Rick DiPietro. They formed the “Hahn & Humpty Show”. Furthermore, the show was simulcast on MSG Network in summer 2016 and 2017. However, Hahn left the show in August 2017. He left to host his own daily show “Hahn Solo”. The program aired on the station.

He also appeared in the critically acclaimed documentary, Big Shot.
