Amanda Ruiz is a renowned American journalist who is currently working as a multimedia journalist for Fox 7 News in Austin, Texas since January 2020. Prior to joining Fox 7 News, Amanda worked as a reporter for the NBC affiliate in Lubbock, Texas. At the network, she started out as a reporter and was eventually promoted to join the network’s investigative team.
Amanda was born and raised in New York City and attended Saint Vincent Ferrer High School. She then attended Penn State University, where she earned a BA in Broadcast Journalism and a major in Political Science.
In college, Ruiz worked as a reporter and control room operator for PSN-TV at Unversity Park. After spending 9 months at the station, Amanda moved to State College, Pennsylvania, where she served as a producer, reporter, and anchor for the WPSU Center County Report.
After graduating from Penn State University, Amanda joined ABC 27 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to work as a news reporter intern. In December 2017, Ruiz landed his first broadcasting job at KCBD-TV in Lubbock, Texas as a reporter and multimedia journalist.
Two years later, Amanda joined Fox 7 Austin as a reporter and multimedia journalist, where she works to this day. When Ruiz isn’t on screen, she’ll be exploring everything Austin has to offer! She loves to hike, spend time with friends and loves to try new things.
