Amber Smith is an American actress and former model who is best known for appearing on the second season of the VH1 television show Celebrity Rehab, which portrayed her 16-year struggle with opiate and alcohol addiction.
During her 2008 and 2009 appearances on reality shows where she sought treatment from Dr. Drew Pinsky for addiction, Amber stated that both her parents had long histories of addiction. Furthermore, she revealed that her father died as a result of a drinking problem in the third season of Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew.
At age 16, Amber began modeling where she was first represented by Irene Marie Models in Miami Beach. Under that umbrella, she traveled to Paris, France, where she worked as a model across Europe for four years.
Amber came into the spotlight when her naturally blonde hair was dyed red, giving her a close resemblance to 1940s and 50s movie star Rita Hayworth. She became Esquire Magazine’s first Vargas Girl of the 1990s and also the first model for the Wonderbra campaign.
Later, Amber posed for photographer Helmut Newton for a Wolford advertising campaign and modeled for the 2002 lingerie campaign for Venus Victoria, Victoria’s Secret’s European sister company.
