Angie Lassman biography
Angie Lassman is an American weatherman who currently works as a weather forecaster at noon and 4pm on weekends at NBC6 South Florida. She is excited to return to Florida as part of The First Alert Weather Team. Prior to joining the First Alert Weather team, Lassman was a weekday morning weather forecaster at FOX26 KNPN in Sint Joseph, Missouri.
A native of Fraser, she was recruited to play volleyball at the Florida Institute of Technology. Lassman graduated from the Department of Engineering and Ocean Sciences in 2012 with a Bachelor of Technology. She also continued at FIT to obtain her Master of Science in Meteorology and co-authored a chapter in the book entitled “Climate Change and Regional/Local Responses”.
Angie was part of a scientific research team at FIT, a college athlete, two-year team captain, and a college instructor. She was also a facilitator for the FIT Department of Space Sciences, educating the Florida Division for Emergency Management officials and law enforcement on proper procedures and crisis management in the event of a coronal mass ejection climate emergency.
As a scientist, Angie feels that the rise of extreme weather has highlighted the need for more educated voices in the field of broadcast meteorology. She hopes to utilize TV’s weather platform to have a positive impact on the community and play an important role in providing viewers with the most accurate updates from developing storms as well as critical safety information throughout her career.
She is proud to take the next step in her career in South Florida. Also, in her spare time, she enjoys the beach, photography, travel and fashion, but most of all Lassman loves people. Lassman hopes to inspire others to be fearless in life, try new things and have fun doing them.
