Biography of Angus McLaren
Angus McLaren is an Australian actor known for his role in TV series such as H2O: Just Add Water and Packed to the Rafters. He started acting at the age of 12, appearing in a few recurring roles on the ABC series Something in the Air. Furthermore, Angus is also popular for appearing in famous series like Blue Heelers, Comedy Inc and in a long-running Australian TV series Neighbours.
McLaren was born and raised in the town of Wonthaggi, Victoria, in South Gippsland. He completed high school at a local school in his hometown and later enrolled at Mary Mackillop College Leongatha where he used to play drummer for the band Rapids. Furthermore, he played bass in the band Bogey Lowenstein. Later, Angus attended the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Perth and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in acting. During his time there, he took part in several stage productions, including the title role in Shakespeare’s Coriolanus.
In his final year at WAAPA, Angus won Channel Nine’s Best Actor Award at the WA Screen Academy Awards for his role in the short film Quartermaine. Soon after graduating, he becomes a member of the popular Channel Nine series Doctor Doctor as Dr. Toke alongside Roger Corser. After that he played the role of Pat in the BBC and Channel 10 web series 600 Bottles of Wine. McLaren later appeared in the short film Crumbs and in guest appearances in the series Bloom.
Furthermore, he also starred in the mockumentary comedy series These New South Whales. Furthermore, he wrote his first solo show titled Mr. X – DEDTALKS and performed at various venues including The Hills Are Alive Music and Comedy Festival in Victoria. His breakout role came in 2004 when he appeared in the series Silversun, which aired on the Seven Network and ABC. He then appeared in the series H2O: Just Add Water, in which he gained popularity and became recognized.
Thereafter, Angus starred in 102 episodes of the series Packed to the Rafters playing Nathan Rafter. From 2013 to 2014 he participated in several master classes in New York, Sydney and Melbourne. Additionally, he starred as Lance Salisbury on the soap opera Home and Away. Furthermore, McLaren also appeared in the highly anticipated feature film Hotel Mumbai alongside Dev Patel and Armie Hammer.
