Anthony Fauci Biography
Anthony Fauci is a noted American physician and immunologist known primarily for his service in the role of Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984. He is also the President’s Chief Medical Adviser in the administration of President Joe Biden.
Fauci has been named as a key member of the Trump administration’s White House Coronavirus Task Force. This was an appointment made in January 2020 to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. With that, he was considered one of the most trusted medical figures in the country.
Since his appointment in 1984, Fauci has overseen an extensive portfolio of basic and applied research to prevent, diagnose and treat established infectious diseases. Some of the illnesses that have been addressed include; HIV/AIDS, respiratory infections, diarrheal diseases, tuberculosis and malaria.

His career in medicine began when he joined the National Institutes of Health in 1968. At the NIH, Fauci began as a clinical associate in the Clinical Investigation Laboratory of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Later, in 1974, he became the Section Chief of Clinical Physiology. Due to his outstanding performance, he was appointed Head of the Immunoregulation Laboratory in 1980. In addition, he moved up the ladder by assuming the role of Director of the NIAID in 1984, a position he holds to this day.
In January 2020, Fauci was named a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force. This was a task force created by President Trump to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. In his duty, Anthony stated that the final case fatality of coronavirus victims will be closer to 1%, contrary to the WHO estimate of 3.4%. However, that estimate would be ten times the reported rate of 0.1% for seasonal flu.
During this desperate time, Fauci served as the public health spokesperson for the president’s office during the pandemic. He also strongly advocates continued social distancing efforts in the United States.
