A’Shawn Robinson is an American footballer who plays for the Detroit Lions, having previously attracted national attention under head coach Nick Saban at the University of Alabama. He is known for his imposing physique, which is accompanied by a serious, non-smiling, bearded face.

The player in the defensive tackle position, who will enter the third year of his professional career in 2018, has much to look forward to as he plays an important role for his team. His talent for teeing off passes, which is due to his surprisingly good athletic skills, will play a major role in helping his team succeed, while he himself will live up to the claim of becoming the player most people have thought him to be.

A’Shawn Robinson Biography

A’Shawn Robinson was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas on March 21, 1995, by his single mother Abigail Robinson. His mother wanted him to be an athlete and as soon as her son, who was allegedly taller than almost all of his friends, turned 4, she enrolled him in a football academy.

Robinson attended Arlington Heights High School, where he not only played for the football team but also played on the athletics and basketball team. However, it was football that was close to his heart as his achievements for the team in his senior year earned him a five-star rating through the prestigious college sports website Rivals.com. This put serious college programs on the alert, as the State of Louisiana, the State of Florida, the University of Texas, and the University of Southern California all offered him a scholarship. Although he had previously made an oral commitment to visit Texas and stay close to home, Robinson decided at the last moment to attend the University of Alabama.

In Alabama, A’Shawn Robinson was one of two true rookies who played in every game in the 2013 season. His influence on the team was felt as he finished his first college season with 38 tackles (15 solo) and a career/team-high 5.5 sacks degree. He was also appointed to the All-Freshman team of SEC Coaches and the All-American team of Sporting News rookies.

In his second year, Robinson started 13 of the 14 games he played in. He ended the year with a career highlight: 49 tackles (16 solo) earned him an honorable mention on the All-SEC team when his team won the SEC championship. In his junior year, Robinson took his game to new heights when he was named a finalist for the Outland Trophy, an award given to the nation’s best indoor or defensive lineman. Although he did not receive this award, Robinson won his second SEC championship and was included in the Sporting News, Associated Press, FWAA and AFCA First Team All-American. He finished the season with 46 tackles (18 solo), 3.5 sacks, two pass defenses, and a fumble recovery while starting all 15 games of the season.

After recording a total of 133 tackles (49 solo games), 22 defeat tackles, 19 quarterback goals, nine sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and five pass defenses in his three years in Alabama, A’Shawn Robinson decided to forgo his senior year and sign up for the 2016 NFL Draft. He was selected by the Detroit Lions in the second round with the 46th overall selection. His first game in the league was against Indianapolis, which he marked with a one-pass defense. He played all 16 games, started five, and finished the season with 30 tackles (22 solo), two sacks, six tackles for loss, and seven pass defenses.

Height, Weight, Body Measurements

The players in defensive tackle positions are usually the strongest and tallest of all defenders on an NFL team, so it should come as no surprise that A’Shawn Robinson is a mountain of a man. He weighs 146 kg (322 pounds) and is 1.82 m tall, which makes him very effective in his position when dealing with other players. Just ask Ezekiel Elliot what it feels like to be hit with his body.

Robinson did not grow into the brick wall he is today overnight. Throughout his childhood, he had to take criticism of his actual age because of his enormous physical presence. His mother explained that as a child she had to take his birth certificate to the games because opposing parents and coaches always felt that he was not suitable to play with their children. His other body measurements are;

Arm Length: 34 1/2 inches

Hand Size: 10 1/2 inches
