Biography of Azzi Fudd
Azzi Fudd is an American college basketball player who is currently the point guard for the UConn Huskies of the Big East Conference. She attended St. John’s College in Washington, D.C., and became the first sophomore to win the 2019 Gatorade Player of the Year.
Fudd led his team to a 35-1 record and won the District of Columbia State Athletic Association tournament title. Before her sophomore year, she became one of the first girls to attend SC30 Select Camp, an elite off-season training camp run by two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry. Furthermore, she won the camp three-point shooting competition.
Shortly after that season, she tore her ACL and MCL in her right knee. Due to the nature of the injury, knee reconstruction required two separate surgeries. Both operations were performed by K. Donald Shelbourne. While still in rehab, she attended Curry’s camp again and Donald allowed her to return to competing in the camp’s three-point competition. Still, she won the contest.
She returned to the St. John’s in January 2020. Azz was a five-star recruit and was ranked number one in the class of 2021 by ESPN. Furthermore, she received her first scholarship offer in sixth grade from Maryland. On November 11, 2020, she announced her commitment to UConn. She became the 12 number one recruit to sign with UConn in 1998. Fudd joins her best friend and former number one recruit Paige Bueckers.
In addition to basketball, she has signed Golden State star Stephen Curry to his SC30 Inc. for “multidimensional” parenting on December 1, 2021.
