Biography of Ben Caplan
Ben Caplan is a Canadian folk musician known for his album songs such as In the Time of the Great Remembering, Birds With Broken Wings and Old Stock. Caplan is a native of Hamilton, Ontario, and started playing guitar at age 13. In addition, he has been nominated for several East Coast Music Awards.
Ben completed high school at a local school in his hometown and later attended the University of King’s College. His journey began at age 19 as an independent singer-songwriter. He also participated in the Artist Entrepreneur program through Canada’s Music Incubator. In 2011, he released his first full-length studio album called In the Time of the Great Remembering.
Additionally, following the release of his first album, Caplan was nominated for Recording Male Artist of the Year for his album. From there, he started touring Canada and played a few shows in Europe. Over the next few years, he and his band The Casual Smokers toured the east coast of Canada and performed in places like Texas, Gala and Austin. For his performance that year, he won the Root Recording of the Years award.

From March 30 to April 1, 2013, Caplan performed live at Byron Bay Bluesfest. He later performed at various shows such as The Hop Farm Festival (UK) and Roots In The Park Music Festival (Netherlands), among other places. For his performance, he became recognized in countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Norway, United Kingdom and Canada. From late 2013 to January 2014, Ben participated in the Woodford Folk Festival and the Sydney Festival. In addition, he also starred in a series in Australia.
