Kevin Fontana is her fourth spouse; according to a 2012 article, they had been married for 31 years, but other sources claim that she married Redd in 1981. Her daughter, Brittany Rose, is her second child. She and her children currently reside in Atlanta, Georgia.

She was born and raised in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, as one of five children. Her paternal grandparents were from Carriacou of the Grenadine Islands.
