Elizabeth Mowins is a renowned American sports commentator and play-by-play announcer for ESPN, CBS and Sports Network. In 2021, she became the first woman to call play-by-play for an NBA game on network TV. Furthermore, Mowin joined ESPN in 1994 and has worked for the network ever since. Previously, she served for three years as sports director and news presenter for WXHC-FM Radio in Homer, New York. Furthermore, she is also a member of the Lafayette College Maroon Club Hall of Fame.

She attended high school at North Syracuse High School in North Syracuse, New York where she used to play basketball, softball and soccer. Thereafter, she enrolled at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, where she became the captain of the varsity basketball team for two seasons. While there, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1989 before continuing her studies at Syracuse University. There she received a master’s degree in broadcasting and digital journalism.

Shortly after her graduation, she was hired as an sports director and host for WXHC-FM radio in Homer, New York. Three years later, Mowins left and joined ESPN in 1994. There, she was in charge of covering college sports news such as football, football, basketball, volleyball, and softball.
