Bill Spencer is an Emmy-winning investigative reporter, competitive tennis player, skier, weightlifter and rock and roll drummer. He has nearly 30 years of experience uncovering what the powerful and criminals are trying to hide.
Bill joined KPRC 2 News in May 2013 from WXYZ-TV in Detroit. At WXYZ-TV, he worked for 16 years as Head of Consumer Investigation Reporter while directing the Call Account Action Team. TCBFAT was a consumer interest franchise that helped more than 7,000 Metro Detroit residents each year recover their money from corrupt contractors, powerful utility companies, stolen auto mechanics, and anyone else who abused consumers.
Prior to joining WXYZ, Bill also worked at KNXV in Phoenix, KLAS in Las Vegas, KTUL in Tulsa, WMUR in Manchester, KOSA in Midland_Odessa, Texas, and KMID in Midland, Texas.
At KPRC, NBC’s affiliate station, Spencer is a member of the station’s investigative team.
Additionally, the seasoned reporter has won 10 Emmy Awards, multiple Associated Press Awards, and two consecutive years of Best Television Reporting Awards by The Michigan Associated Press.
Furthermore, he is a former college tennis player and a graduate of San Diego State University. He was ranked #1 (45 men’s singles/Southeast Michigan) for three consecutive years.
