Bill Weir (William Francis Weir) is an American television journalist who currently works as a correspondent and news anchor for CNN News based in Manhattan. He is also the creator and host of the global documentary series The Wonder List with Bill Weir. Additionally, Weir is the former co-anchor of Nightline on the ABC television network in the United States and co-anchor of the weekend edition of Good Morning America from 2004 to 2010.
Weir began his career in 1991 as a general reporter and weekend sportscaster at KAAL in Austin, Minnesota. He later became the sports anchor for WLUK in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and went on to anchor the WGN Morning News at WGN in Chicago from 1995 to 1998.
Additionally, from 1998 to 2002, Bill was a sports anchor at KABC-TV in Los Angeles, where he hosted the popular weekly show Monday Nite Live. From 2002 to 2004, he developed, wrote and presented three television pilots for the US and FX Networks.
In 2004, Bill joined ABC News, where he covered the latest global news and trends, such as the economic rise of China and India, signature features of Good Morning America. In 2010, he went to New Orleans and Afghanistan and led the network’s coverage of Iraq. Although Bill was a writer and anchor for ABC, he produced specials for the network on topics ranging from religion to brain science to the rise and fall of General Motors.
