He was born on April 8, 1990, on McMillan Street, a limited, low-income neighborhood on the south side of Memphis. He was raised by his grandparents, as were his younger brothers. Although both of his grandparents worked, they had very little money and struggled to feed their families.
When he was just seven years old, his grandfather got him a job at a local grocery store, but was fired after the manager caught him sending bogus orders to the business to bring home food for him and his siblings. He began selling narcotics after losing his job in the business and spent time in prison for drug and weapons offenses. He began to pursue a career in music shortly after his release from prison.
