Blake McCoy Biography
Blake McCoy is a renowned American journalist who currently serves as a news anchor based in Washington, DC, and reporting for WTTG, Fox 5. McCoy presents Fox 5’s nightly news broadcast at 4:00 pm, 6:30 pm, and 11:00 pm.
Blake became an internet sensation in February 2021 after tweeting a controversial tweet about the COVID-19 vaccine criteria. This was after failing to meet vaccine criteria that prioritized obese people over essential workers. However, the controversy did him no favors and instead led to his suspension from Fox 5 News.
Blake is an American citizen, born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He later attended his high school in Chicago before moving to Washington, D.C. for his college education.
Later, McCoy joined George University of Washington to pursue a dual specialization in journalism and political science. Prior to joining the university, Blake spent a semester abroad in 2006 at the University of Manchester to study European Politics.
He then joined the United States House of Representatives in 2014 as a legislative intern. Immediately after graduation, McCoy joined KBOI-TV as a news anchor, where he served as the station’s morning reporter for two years.

In September 2009, Blake moved to Las Vegas, Nevada-based KTNV to work as a weekend anchor. He reported weekend nightly news and three nights a week. In addition, he was the main fill-in anchor for the morning and evening news on weekdays.
After spending three years at KTNV, Blake moved to KARE 11 in September 2012 to work as a weekend anchor. He also reported the news three days a week and served as the main anchor for the weekday news. After three years, McCoy left the station for greener pastures.
In October 2015, Blake joined NBC News as a correspondent, reporting for TODAY, Nightly News and MSNBC. Unfortunately, his time at the station was limited to three years and six months. He then joined WYYG, Fox 5 News in Washington, D.C. in March 2019 as the nightly news anchor. He held that position until his suspension in February 2021.
