Brian Carlson biography
Brian Carlson is an American Emmy Award-winning journalist, co-anchor and reporter who is currently hosting the news program Good Morning and Midday Utah, which airs on ABC4 in Utah.
Carlson practiced his first on-air job while at school, where he used to host a weekly show on a Salt Lake station and liked it. He followed his passion that led him to Brigham Young University where he majored in broadcast journalism.
His first job was at KNDU in Kennewick, Washington, where he was the first reporter in 2004 to cover the story of Ron Stallworth, a young black detective who infiltrated the KKK. This report became the motivation for the Oscar-winning film “BlackKkKlansman” which was directed by Spikes Lee.
In 2012, he secretly bought drugs and was instrumental in helping the police catch an illegal drug dealer. This earned him a regional Emmy award for his coverage, titled Spice in the City.
