Cameron Cox biography
Cameron Cox is an Emmy Award-winning sports anchor and reporter and currently works for 12 News. Cox also hosts Friday Night Fever and 12 Sports Tonight, as well as contributing to the Cardinals Locker Room. He joined the News team12 in November 2014.
Cameron participated Oriental University of New Mexico in Portales, New Mexico, where he was student-athlete (soccer). He learned to use his own experience in the sport to hone his journalism. Cameron is also a proud graduate of Atascocita High School in Humble.
He began his broadcasting career as a weekend sports anchor on KNOE-Tv in Monroe, Louisiana, covering Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Monroe, Grambling, LSU and the Saints.
Cameron came to WOAI-TV’s Valley in San Antonio, Texas, where he spent two years as a sports reporter and anchor. In San Antonio, Cox covered two NBA Finals, Spurs Championship Parade, NBA All-Star Game, College Football (Longhorns, Aggies, UTSA), Texans and Cowboys games, NFL Playoffs, Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremony , high school sports, MLB and the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
While majoring in Broadcast Journalism, he worked full-time for KENW and KSEL as a top sports anchor and play-by-play broadcaster. Additionally, Cameron hosted Portales’ first sports radio show, “Game On!”, and was the voice of the Portales Rams.
When not working, Cox enjoys working out, anything outdoors, reading history books, trying to improve his golf game, collecting movies, spending time with his family, and watching sports (shockingly).
