Later she moved to California to attend community college and gain California residency. In 2004, Charissa went to the University of California, Santa Barbara. She studied Law and Society and graduated from there.

Charissa started her broadcasting career on various college sports shows including Big Ten Network and Fox Sports Net. She was a sideline reporter for college football and basketball games and worked as a sideline reporter for the NFL by NFL on Fox for several years.

Charissa also worked as a co-host on a sports show called The Best Damn Sports Show Period on FSN. She joined ESPN in June 2011 and co-hosted the show Numbers Never Lie. Later she hosted SportsNation and ESPN First Take.
