Christie Diez is an American Emmy-winning journalist who currently works for WXIA-TV 11 Alive in Atlanta as an anchor and weekend reporter. She is also the brains behind the weekly show “Behind the Headline”. Diez is an Emmy-winning reporter at Atlanta’s WXIA-TV 11Alive, where she hosts the morning show Morning Rush. She previously worked as an anchor and reporter at WRDW in Augusta, Georgia, before joining 11Alive.
Diez was a crucial component of the show that won an Emmy in 2018 for Best Morning News for its two-hour coverage of Hurricane Michael as it approached the Gulf of Mexico. For two hours, she was the only live reporter in Panama City Beach. She offered up-to-the-minute reports on live evacuation orders, sirens, and rising waves during the Gulf’s only Category 5 hurricane. When the weather got too dangerous to broadcast, she was live streaming from her phone. She provided updates on social media as the roof of the hotel where she was taking refuge began to be ripped off.
Christie was also in the middle of another hurricane. She was the only live reporter broadcasting from Tybee Island when Hurricane Irma made landfall in Georgia.
