Biography of Chuck Goudie
Chuck Goudie is a renowned American journalist who currently works as the lead investigative correspondent for ABC-TV/WLS-TV in Chicago. He joined the station in 1990 and has also been an Emmy-winning reporter for ABC7 News since joining in April 1980. Previously, Goudie served as a general reporter and sports anchor for WSOC-TV, the ABC affiliate in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is a member of Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) and a regular speaker at its annual international conference.
Chuck completed his schooling at Wylie E. Grove High School in 1973 and then attended Michigan State University. In 1977, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communication, Journalism and Political Science. Furthermore, he is also a member of the Delta Chi fraternity. Shortly after graduation, he was hired as a general reporter for WSOC-TV, an ABC affiliate in Charlotte, North Carolina. Years later, he was promoted and worked as the main sports anchor for the same network.
Early at age 12, he earned a regular role on two weekly children’s shows on WXYZ-TV in Detroit, Michigan. From 1975 to 1976, Goudie was news director for the Michigan State Network, as well as the campus radio network in East Lansing, Michigan. While at Lansing, he also worked full-time as a radio journalist for WILS-Radio and WVIC-Radio. Furthermore, he was also a contributor for WXYZ-Radio in Detroit.

He has also received Emmy Awards from the Chicago TV Academy and received the Edward R. Murrow National Award for Continuing Television News Reporting. Furthermore, in 2018, Chuck was inducted into the prestigious Chicago Silver Circle of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He was also among the select few to be honored for his dedication to the television industry for over 25 years. His groundbreaking investigation led the FBI to infiltrate, leading to dozens of federal corruption convictions all the way to former Governor George Ryan.
