Ciera Payton is an American actress and writer. She is known for her role on television series such as The Walking Dead, General Hospital, Graceland and NCIS. Currently, Payton stars on the BET soap opera The Oval, playing Lily Winthrop. She is also famous for her show The Wendy William’s Role, a biopic of talk show host Wendy Williams.
She was born in Mississippi but grew up in New Orleans, where she attended drama school. later, Ciera auditioned for the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts before heading to the North Carolina School of the Arts for their high school theater program. Thereafter, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
While in college, she landed her first role in the film Fight of Fury, where she played the role of CIA agent Jessica. Subsequently, Payton starred as the lead role of Savannah in Savannah Black and Blue, produced by the Negro Ensemble Company. In 2010, she appeared in the BBC American reboot of Torchwood.
