Biography of Conan Nolan
Conan Nolan is an American journalist who currently works as a political reporter for KNBC-TV in Los Angeles. He is also the host of the network’s News Conference program, one of the longest running local politics and public affairs programs in the country.
Most notably, his first full-time broadcasting position was at KVEC-AM radio in San Luis Obispo. While there, he served as assistant news director, but left the station two years later. After his departure from KVEC-AM, he moved to KSBY-TV first as a weekday reporter and weekend sports anchor. He later moved to KSBW-TV in Salinas.
In July 1986, he was hired by KNBC-TV. Over the course of his career, he has covered various fires, floods, earthquakes, police chases, and riots. In 1989, he reported live for NBC News from Candlestick Park. Furthermore, in 1992, he broke the investigation into singer Michael Jackson by the Los Angeles Police Department, and in 1994, he reported live during the police chase while driving in front of OJ Simson’s white Ford Bronco.
He also reported from Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom; Pakistan during the war in Afghanistan. Furthermore, he reported from Rome, Tel Aviv, Mexico City and many other states. Throughout his career, he received many awards. He has a Golden Mic Award for a story chronicling the plight of Afghan refugee children along the Pakistani border and a regional Emmy for a series on the tiny South Pacific island of Tuvalu in their fight against global warming. Nolan was also selected in 2010 as the television “Journalist of the Year” for the Los Angeles chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
