Dan Ponce is an American journalist who currently serves as an anchor for WGN-T, a radio talk show host on WLS-AM and founder of the Cappella Straight group No Chaser. He joined WGN-TV in September 2010 as a general reporter. Dan currently anchors the WGN Morning News from 4 am to 6 am alongside Lauren Jiggetts.
Ponce received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and later graduated from the Medill School of Journalism in Northwest University with your master’s degree.
Dan joined WGN-Tv from Chicago’s ABC7 Eyewitness News, where he worked as a general reporter. He started his broadcasting career in Lansing. Michigan at WILX-Tv, where he worked as a reporter and weekend anchor.
During his undergraduate studies, Ponce founded the renowned group Capella Straight No Chaser at Atlantic Records. The album “Holiday Spirits” from the Straight No Chaser album was #1 on iTunes and Amazon.
In 2009, Ponec decided to leave ABC7 and join the group full-time. The group went on to perform hundreds of shows across the country and record three more albums on the Atlantic Records label. They also had a televised concert series “Live in New York” (produced by WTTW) broadcast on PBS stations from coast to coast.
Later, in 2010, Dan returned to his television career and was hired by WGN-TV as a general reporter.
