Dave Evans Biography
Dave Evans is an American journalist who currently works as a political reporter for Channel 7 Eyewitness News in New York. Since joining WABC-TV in 1999, Evans has covered every major election, from Mike Bloomberg and Bill de Blasio’s mayoral campaigns to Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential race.
Dave is a proud graduate of University of Missouri School of Journalism with a BA in Journalism. Prior to joining ABC 7 News, Evans worked as a senior political reporter for WFAA-TV, the ABC station in Dallas. On the network, he covered subjects as varied as the American intervention in Haiti and the war in El Salvador. He also reported on Ross Perot’s 1992 US presidential campaign and his subsequent 1996 campaign, as well as the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.
Since 2000, Dave has worked as a lead reporter for Eyewitness News at all political conventions. He has also traveled extensively for ABC7, from covering the war in Iraq to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s recent visit to Israel.
During his career, Evans won several awards, including the DuPont-Columbia Award for team coverage of the World Trade Center attacks. In addition, he received the Associated Press Best Reporter in Texas award, as well as two Dallas Katie Awards for his government reporting.
