David Cone is an American former MLB (Major League Baseball) pitcher. He currently works as a sports commentator for the New York Yankees on regional sports network YES Network and WPIX and also for ESPN on Sunday Night Baseball. It assists with game-by-game commentary and typically fills in when the game is not in progress.
Cone went to Rockhurst High School, a Jesuit school where he played quarterback (QB) on the football team until the district championship. However, he was also a point guard (PG) on the school’s basketball team. David also played baseball in the Ban Johnson league in Kansas City. He’s really a sports athlete. Furthermore, he also performed in the Open audition for the St. Louis Cardinals at Royals Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. He retired from baseball in 2001, where he chose to comment in the inaugural 2001 season. However, his return was in 2003 with the Mets, which infuriated the Yankees and he was not welcomed back.
