Muir served as an anchor and reporter at WTVH-TV in Syracuse, New York from 1995-2000. After reporting from Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Israel and the Gaza Strip following the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1995, he was awarded top honors by the Association of Radio-Television News Directors.
