Dennis Waterman is an English singer and actor who is best known for his badass lead in the TV series; The Sweeney, Minder and new tricks. So far, he has appeared in 28 movies retiring from acting between 2015 and 2019.
Waterman was born in Clapham, London. He then joined Granard Primary School, a state primary school on the Ashburton Estate in Putney, southwest London. Dennis also joined Corona Stage School, an independent school in Ravenscourt Park in Hammersmith, West London.
A year later, he appeared in the BBC TV series William as William Brown. He even played the role of Oliver Twist in the production of Lionel Bart Oliver’s musical! staged at the Mermaid Theater in London.
He began his childhood acting career with his first role in Night Train for Inverness (1960). He followed up with two small roles on stage for the 1960 season of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Waterman appeared in the BBC television series Colditz as a young Gestapo officer in the early 1990s. In 1971, Dennis appeared alongside Richard Harris and John Huston in; Man in the desert. In addition, he was a member of the acting company that appeared in The Sextet, a BBC 2 series that included the Dennis Potter drama; Follow the yellow brick road.

Between 2003 and 2014, Dennis was a regular cast member on New Tricks. However, in 2015, Waterman expressed his intention to leave the television series during its final season. True to his words, he only appeared in the first two episodes. He later narrated the reality show; Bad Lad’s Army, and also in the 2009 BBC2 ministries Moses Jones.
In 2020, Dennis appeared in the Australian drama comedy film Never Too Late, filmed in Adelaide, South Australia 2019.
