Eden Checkol Biography
Eden Checkol is an Ethiopian-American news anchor and reporter who most recently worked at WPLG and WSFL as a nightly news anchor in Miami, Florida. She joined the station in April 2021. Previously, she worked as an anchor and reporter for the week’s morning issue at WISN 12 News, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Furthermore, before joining WISN 12 News, she served for two years as a reporter and anchor in 2017 at WISC-TV, Madison.
Checkol participated Roseville Area High School, where he finished high school. Immediately, she enrolled at the University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where she majored in Arts with a major in Communication and Journalism. She also holds a degree in business administration from the same university.
Eden joined stations WPLG and WSFL in April 2021. She serves as the 10pm news anchor at the station located in Miami. Prior to joining the station, she served as a weekday anchor on WISN 12 News, anchoring at 4:30 am “This Morning” as well as 12 News at 11 am. Eden joined the station in 2017 as an anchor and weekend morning reporter, where she reported on various newscasts.
Furthermore, Checkol also served as a reporter and anchor on WISC-TV, an affiliate of CBS for a period of two years. She covered a wide range of stories such as human interest features and breaking news.
Checkol began his career in Duluth, Minnesota on KBJR 6 and Range 11/CBS KDLH as an anchor and reporter. Furthermore, she also worked as a multimedia journalist where she wrote, filmed and edited at the same time. Her interest in journalism started when she was a teenager as she was inspired by her father who was a journalism professor.
