Evan Gattis, nicknamed “The White Bear”, is an American baseball player who plays in the Major Baseball League (MLB) for the Houston Astros as a designated batter/catcher. Evan Gattis Biography
The star of the MLB was born as James Evan Gattis on August 18, 1986, in Dallas, Texas. He also grew up in Farmers Branch, Texas, and started playing basketball at the age of six. When he was only 8 years old, his parents got divorced and he moved to Forney. Although he had not yet come to terms with the effects of the whole thing at the time, it was to change his life.
He received his high school education at R. L. Turner High School, Forney High School, and Bishop Lynch High School where he played under different coaches. By the time he entered high school, Evan Gattis was already a great player for the future, and he was already playing for the Dallas Tigers, a traveling team. Although he was supposed to be selected no later than the 8th round in the 2004 draft, he was not drafted.

After he was unable to do the draft, he received scholarships to attend Texas A&M University and Rice University. And although he chose the former, he had developed a drug problem with marijuana and alcohol in high school. He was taken by his mother to a drug rehabilitation facility where he was hospitalized for the next 30 days, and from there he moved to Prescott, Arizona, where he continued his therapy as an outpatient.
When he returned, Gattis received a call from the team coach at Seminole State College, where he would only play for half a season before quitting after a knee injury and all he had been through. He took several odd jobs and then suffered from severe depression. Later, he met with a spiritual counselor and worked his way back to recovery and baseball.
In 2010, he returned to baseball and earned a spot on the Texas-Permian Basin Falcons team. Gattis performed well, and he participated in the 2010 MLB draft again, but this time he was picked by the Atlanta Braves in the 23rd minute of the MLB draft.
He played sometime in the Minor League where he achieved a lot before making his MLB debut with the Atlanta Braves in 2013. He played for the team until 2015 when he was transferred to the Houston Astros. In 2017 he won the World Series with the Astros.
