Biography of Hari Sreenivasan
Hari Sreenivasan is a renowned American broadcast journalist, currently working as anchor, senior correspondent and director of digital partnerships for PBS NewsHour Weekend.
Sreenivasan went to Nathan Hale High School in Seattle, Washington. While at school, he became a radio disc jockey. In 1995, he graduated in mass communication, with a specialization in politics and philosophy, from the University of Puget Sound.
Furthermore, while in college, he interned at various TV stations in Washington state.
Sreenivasan began his career as a reporter for WNCN in 1995 in Raleigh, North Carolina. However, in 1996 he moved to San Francisco, California, leaving WNCN for CNET, where he served as anchor and correspondent, covering especially the high-tech sector.
Additionally, in 2004, Sreenivasan was hired by ABC News as the anchor, correspondent and concurrently co-host of the behind-the-scenes podcast ‘ABC News Shuffle’ alongside Jake Tapper.
He worked at ABC for 3 years and 2 months, then joined CBS News in March 2007, serving as a correspondent.
Sreenivasan left the CBS news in December 2009 and joined PBS NewsHour. He currently works as an anchor and senior correspondent. In addition, he is also serving as Director of Digital Partnerships, helping to guide the digital strategy of Newshour’s online objectives.

Since joining PBS, Sreenivasan has also participated in various projects. Some of these include ‘The Doubleheader’, a web-only unscripted video series documenting the sport of politics and the politics of sports, ‘Coping with Climate Change’, a project that demonstrated the effect of global temperature rise and change of weather patterns in American communities, and ‘PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs’, which connected students to a network of public broadcast mentors, an innovative journalism curriculum and an online collaborative space to develop digital media, critical thinking and skills of communication while producing original reports. He also featured a conversation with the India PM in Manhattan once.
In addition, Sreenivasan received Emmy nominations for his reporting on CBS News and for his coverage of the Gulf oil spill. He also received several Best Broadcast Story Awards of the Association of Journalists of South Asia, an organization of which he served as a board member from 2001 to 2004.
Throughout his career, he ran his own production company and worked as a freelance reporter for KTVU-TV in Oakland, California. He is also a member of the Association of Asian American Journalists and a 2003 graduate of the Executive Leadership Program.
