Irina Valeryevna Shaykhlislamova was born on January 6th of 1986 in Yemanzhelinsk, Soviet Union, to a Volga Tatar, a father named Valery Shaykhlislamov who worked as a coal miner, and a Russian mother named Olga who taught music at a kindergarten. She often mentions that her father’s Tatar heritage gave him a darker complexion which sometimes made people think she was South American. She got her light-colored eyes from her mother. Irina has a sister named Tatiana Petenkova and is an aunt to Tatiana’s three children including a niece named Irina.

From a young age, Irina showed talent in music starting piano lessons at six and then attending a music school at nine where she sang in the choir. Her mother encouraged her musical pursuits.
