For his first two years of high school, he played basketball at Sun Prairie High School in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. He later transferred to Nicolet High School in Glendale, Wisconsin. He helped take Nicolet to the 2nd Division State Championship. He was then named Wisconsin Player of the Year by the Associated Press.
