Jamie Ball biography
Jamie Boll is an American journalist who currently works as an anchor and reporter at WBTV in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. Boll began his work at WBTV in March 2005 as an anchor for the 5:30 pm news and also as an investigative reporter. In addition, he co-hosted the 4 pm news.
Boll attended and graduated from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a BA in broadcast journalism.
Jamie has been a broadcast journalist for over 30 years. His career began while still in college in 1998. Boll started out as a part-time sports photographer, primarily photographing high school sports highlights. Immediately after graduation, he got a job as a news anchor producer and eventually moved on to acting as a reporter and weekend anchor.
In 1993, Boll moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan, to work as a weekday anchor on WWMT-TV. However, after a few years, he became the news anchor for the 5:30 pm, 6:00 pm and 11:00 pm news stations while serving as editor-in-chief of the newsroom.
Furthermore, Jamie moved to WBTV in Charlotte in March 2005. He served as the 5:30 pm news anchor and investigative reporter. After the station released a newscast at 4 pm, Boll was chosen as co-anchor. Boll continued as a co-anchor until April 2018, when the station released another new newscast called “On Your Side Tonight,” which anchored at 7:30 pm. The broadcast program is different from others in that it takes a deeper look at the issues facing our community.

Boll was named co-anchor of WBTV News at 5 and 6 alongside Maureen O’Boyle in January 2019. He anchors both newscasts in addition to On Your Side Tonight. Furthermore, Boll traveled along with the nation and the world during his reporter career. He was in Arizona to cover the effect of immigration in the Carolinas and India to report on the outsourcing of high-tech jobs. He also traveled to Honduras after Hurricane Mitch and to Albania and Kosovo to report on the Balkan war.
Jamie has also received numerous honors for his work as a journalist. In 2018, the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas recognized him as their news anchor of the year. In 2017, Boll won an Emmy for her work as an investigative consumer reporter. He has also been crowned the state’s best co-anchor on several occasions. He has also received numerous individual honors for his reporting.
