Jason Matheson biography
Jason Matheson is an Emmy Award-winning American journalist who is currently the host of Jason & Alexis in the Morning on MyTalk 107.1 in the Twin Cities and also the host of The Jason Show on Fox 9 which airs at 10am on KSMP-TV.
Matheson began his television career at WCCO-TV, where he served as a night dispatcher, working the weekend night shift. Within a few months, Jason was promoted to assistant task editor and then weekend task editor.
In 2000, Jason joined KMSP-TV, Fox 9 in Minnesota to serve as executive producer of “The Buzz”, a long-running and highly popular daily entertainment segment covering local and national entertainment. A few months after arriving at the station, Matheson was transferred to the front of the camera as a film critic for the station’s newly released morning show, “Good Day Minnesota.”
On his morning show on Fox 9, Jason interviewed celebrities like Ewan McGregor, Cher, Will Smith, Arthur Miller, Randy Jackson and many more. Matheson’s first day on Fox 9’s assignment was to go to Paisley Park to produce a segment with local music legend Prince. Furthermore, he regularly appeared on many Fox 9 newscasts in various roles.

Jason had a two-week segment called “The Must List” that highlights the hottest things in entertainment. He is also a renowned host of events including the Regional Emmy Awards, Miss Minnesota Peagent and Battle of the Bands.
On January 15, 2009, Jason launched The Weekend Buzz on KMSP Fox 9 and WFTC My29, a half-hour entertainment show featuring celebrity interviews, movie reviews, and entertainment releases. Jason both anchors and serves as an executive producer for the shows.
In September 2009, Matheson was named co-anchor of the newly expanded FOX 9 morning show called “The Buzz”. He also co-hosted Fox 9 Morning News from 4:30am to 6pm. Matheson left “The Buzz” in February 2013. However, in April 2014, Jason moved to WCCO-TV on the 5pm news with his segment, “Trending Now”.
Jason returned to KMSP Fox 9. In March 2015 to launch “The Jason Show”. This is an hour-long show discussing all things pop culture that premiered on August 21, 2015.
Additionally, Jason is a radio host on KMTY (107.1) with co-host Alexis Thompson on “The Saturday Night Groove”. The duo were named hosts for “Jason & Alexis,” which aired weekdays from 12pm to 3pm. Eventually, they were promoted to the morning period from 5:30 to 9:00.
