Jason Jordan Segel is a famous American actor and comedian, known for his role as Marshall Eriksen on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. As a director and producer, he is recognized for his collaboration with Judd Apatow on the TV series Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared, in which he starred.
Jordan was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, United States. He attended school at St. Matthew’s Parish School in Pacific Palisades and later enrolled at the Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles. While there, he played in several plays at the Palisades Playhouse. He made his first film in 1999 after appearing in the comedy-drama series Freaks and Geeks playing Nick Andopolis.
Subsequently, Segel appeared in recurring roles on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as Neil Jansen and on Undeclared as Eric. He gained recognition after portraying the character role of Marshall Eriksen in the TV series ‘How I Met Your Mother’. The show became a huge hit and ran for nine seasons before ending in 2014.
Furthermore, Jason has also starred in movies like Slackers, SLC Punk!, The Good Humor Man, Dead Man on Campus, and Knocked Up. In addition, he also appeared in the lead role in the series Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which he wrote and produced by his partner Apatow. Prior to that, he performed songs in films such as “Dracula’s Lament” and the comedy Get Him to the Greek. In 2010, he voiced Gru’s archrival Vector in Universal’s CGI-animated film Despicable Me. Later, Segel received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Male Lead after starring in the film The End of the Tour. After that, he and Kirsten Miller released the first series of novels titled Nightmare and their first novel called Otherworld. In 2019, Segel starred in Our Friend based on Matthew Teague’s 2015 essay “The Friend” and the TV drama series Dispatches from Elsewhere.
