Jeff Ranieri biography
Jeff Ranieri is an American meteorologist who currently serves as the chief meteorologist for NBC station O&O KNTV in San Jose, California. Prior to that, he reported for NBC NEWS on Early Today and for MSNBC on weekday mornings and afternoons.
Additionally, he was a meteorologist for NBC Weather Plus for Weekend Today Saturday. During weather events, he frequently reported for the Nightly News and the Today Show. Prior to joining his current station in 2004, he was a meteorologist at KCRA in Sacramento, California.
Early in his career, he predicted in Oregon and Florida. Throughout his career, he has told great stories. Some of his reporting includes the arrival of Hurricane Katerina from Biloxi, Mississippi, severe flooding in the Midwest in 2007, the Super Tuesday tornado outbreak in 2008, and the historic New England ice storm in December 2008. In addition, he covered the Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy in 2006 and the Summer Games in Beijing, China.
After the dissolution of NBC Weather Plus, he acquired the Weather Channel, which merged with the new brand, remaining a meteorologist for NBC NEWS in New York. On May 22, 2009, TVNewser reported that he left NBC NEWS to join NBC O&O KNTV in the San Francisco Bay Area. He currently serves as Chief Meteorologist and will be in various places around the SF Bay with live weather, features and interviews. It holds the American Meteorological Society’s Television Seal of Approval.
