Biography of Jim Gardner
Jim Gardner is a renowned American news anchor for WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he works as a presenter for the station at 6pm and 11pm. Before starting his television career at WKBW in Buffalo Springs in 1974, Jim worked at WINS Radio in New York and WFAS Radio in White Plains, New York.
Gardner received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University in 1970. He got a taste of broadcast journalism when he reported on the historic student riots at Columbia in 1968. After his graduation in 1970, Jim worked at WINS radio in New York.
On June 1, 1976, Jim joined WPVI-TV in Philadelphia as a reporter and anchor for Action News at noon. He was later promoted to Action News anchor at 6:00 pm and 11:00 pm on May 11, 1977.
After working for the network for over four decades, Jim docked his last regular broadcast at 11pm on January 11, 2022. However, you can still find Jim docking Action News at 6pm until his retirement at the end of the year.
