Jo Ling Kent is an American journalist who currently works as a correspondent for NBC News. Previously, Kent worked as a reporter on Fox Business Network, ABC and CNN. She has covered notable stories since joining NBC News in 2016.
Jo Ling attended Hopkins High School and later enrolled at Rice University. She also graduated in international relations from the London School of Economics and Perking University. Kent was also a Fulbright Scholar at the Peking University Law School Center.
After graduating from college in 2008, Jo Ling worked as a translator and copywriter for ABC News in Beijing. He would then return to Beijing to work for CNN as an associate producer after graduating from the London School of Economics.
In 2012, Kent joined NBC affiliate WVIT in Connecticut as a field reporter and blogger. There, she extensively covered the 2012 presidential election as a corporate reporter, and her team won a Peabody Awad for covering the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. A year later, she joined Fox Business Network as a technology reporter.
Since 2016, Jo Ling has been a correspondent for NBC News. In June 2020, she was hit by a Seattle Police Department grenade while out in the field reporting on the George Floyd protests in Seattle, Washington.
