John Gregory biography
John Gregory is an American journalist who currently works as a general reporter and weekend co-anchor for ABC7 Eyewitness News who joined the station in 2000. Originally from New York, his family moved to San Diego when he was a teenager. After that, he graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in political science.
He got his first job at KYMA in Yuma, Arizona, where he learned to anchor, produce, film and edit his own stories. He later moved to KTNV in Las Vegas, Nevada as a weekend anchor and reporter. He then returned to San Diego for seven years as a reporter for KNSD before joining ABC7.
Throughout his career journey, he has covered many stories, most of which have made headlines. He covered the 2000 Democratic National Convention for ABC7 Eyewitness News. During the controversial election that followed, he reported live from Washington, DC how the courtroom generated by the election results was heard by the Supreme Court.
After the 9/11 terrorist attacks. he joined California National Guard troops as they traveled to the Middle East on a mission to guard and protect US military installations. Additionally, he was awarded an Emmy in 1995 for his coverage of Tank Rampage in San Diego and in 1996 for Harmony Grove Wildfires in San Diego.
