John Torode is a famous Australian-British chef and TV presenter who gained national recognition for working at Conran Group restaurants. He has also starred in ITV’s This Morning and the famous BBC One MasterChef renewed in 2005. Torode has further gained recognition for being the author of his own series of cookbooks and recipes, including Master Chef Judge Gregg Wallace.

Torode was born in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, but grew up near MMaitland and Edithvale, Melbourne. He grew up as the last born in a family of three boys in Melbourne. He was raised by his father after his mother’s sudden passing at the age of four. After his mother’s death, John, his siblings and his father moved to Matland to live with his grandmother, who taught him how to cook different recipes in his teens. He then launched his career for the first time as a cook working at Le Coq Au Vin restaurant in Aspendale at the age of fifteen.

John officially started his career as a chef at the age of 16 after dropping out of mainstream school to attend a catering college. In 1991, she moved to the UK and started working at Le POnt de la tur as a sous chef for the Conran Group with Terence Coan. It was here that JOhn met Gregg Wallace and became friends with him. Gregg’s company provided food for the restaurant during this period. In 1996, Torode rose to prominence after joining ITV’s The Morning in 1996 as a celebrity chef and professional cook. He played this role until 2000.
