Jon Paepcke is an American journalist who currently works at WVTM 13, NBC 13 in Birmingham, Alabama as an anchor and reporter. He joined the station’s staff in November 2002. Previously, Paepcke served as a reporter at WRBL in Columbus, Georgia from June 1997 to October 2002.
Jon likes to use his curiosity for the truth and investigative background to reveal the hidden stories people want to see. Since Paepcke’s arrival in the Magic City, he has uncovered numerous stories of consumer fraud and government corruption. Jon spent more time covering several high-profile federal fraud trials, such as the corporate fraud case against HealthSouth founder Richard Scrushy, the fraud trial of former Governor Don Siegelman, and the bribery trial against the former mayor of Birmingham, Larry Langford. In addition, he also contributed to the extensive coverage of the April 27, 2011, tornado season.
Fortunately, Paepcke has received television news awards throughout his career, such as the Alabama Broadcasters Association Award for Best Reporter and Associated Press Awards for Best Spot News Coverage and Best Investigative Reporting.
Jon is a native of the riverside town of Columbus. He graduated in 1997 from the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication with a degree in Broadcast News as well as radio and television broadcast technology.
Additionally, Jon has grown up a Crimson Tide fan and cheers for Alabama no matter who they play with, including the Georgia Bulldogs. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Jennifer, son Jack and daughter Julia.
