Kim Castro is an American meteorologist widely recognized for working as a weekend morning weather reporter for KHOU 11 News based in Houston, Texas. Previously, she spent about three and a half years working as a news reporter and broadcast meteorologist for FOX 26 News & CW 59 in Fresno, California. Castro further gained experience working at other media stations like KTVL News Channel 10 and Arizona Public Media.
Castro was born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California to Native American parents of mixed ethnicity. She grew up as a very smart child who enjoyed watching weather reports from a very young age. Castro finished high school in his hometown. She then enrolled at Mississippi State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in geosciences and broadcast meteorology. Kim also earned a BA in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Arizona.
Castro officially started her career in 2014, working as a content producer and lead host of the nationally syndicated show for Arizona Public Media 2014. She worked there for nearly a year and joined the Haley Miranda Group the following year. In 2016, Castro landed his first job as an on-air meteorologist for KTVL News in Oregon.
She covered several weather updates from the Louisiana floods, storms, hurricanes, and floods that occurred across the country. Castro even wore different hats when filming and editing his investigative climate stories on KTVL. Kim left KTVL News in September 2016 and joined FOX 26 News. Her first assignment was to cover various stories as the station’s field reporter. She became the lead on-air weather forecaster for FOX 26 News in early 2018. Kim left FOX 26 and landed her current position as a weekend weather reporter for KHOU 11 News.
