Kim Johnson biography
Kim Johnson is an Emmy-winning American journalist who has currently worked for WCCO since joining the WCCO-TV News staff in May 2014. Johnson is the host of WCCO’s This Morning and Saturday Morning. Prior to joining WCCO, she worked as an anchor for FOX 18 and WDIO.
Johnson was enrolled in Maple Grove College. She used herself for reporting and became the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. After leaving high school, Johnson went to University of Minnesota and graduated with a BA in Women’s Studies and Journalism. Additionally, Johnson has a political science minor.

Johnson posted on her Facebook page on June 1 that she was no longer the anchor of the WCCO morning news. She was fired from the station in late May 2020 as the station wanted to “go in a different direction”. She said;
“Friends, it is with regret that I tell you that I am no longer a WCCO employee. It’s been a dream to tell stories from my hometown with my fellow Minnesotans for six years. I pinched myself everyday going into that building and I will continue to do so as I reflect on what a privilege it has been to be a journalist on one of the best TV stations in the country, not sure what my future holds but I have faith (and) I will keep my chin up and be fine.”
WCCO spokesperson released a statement from management saying;
“We are restructuring several operations at CBS as part of our ongoing integration with Viacom and to adapt to changes in our business, including those related to COVID-19. Our thoughts today are with our departing colleagues for their friendship, service and many important contributions to CBS.”
