Kris Ketz biography
Kris Ketz is an Emmy-winning journalist who currently works as an anchor and reporter for ABC affiliate KMBC 9 News. When it comes to meaningful stories, Ketz is always in the right place at the right time. On July 4, 1983, she became a member of the station’s staff.
He was co-anchor of KMBC 9 News on 5 for over 14 years until he was appointed co-anchor of KMBC 9 First News in October 2007. Kris was also named co-anchor of KMBC 9 News weekdays at 6:00 pm , 9 pm and 10 pm in May 2015.
Ketz is a graduate of Davenport, University St. Ambrose from Iowa. He began his broadcasting career at age 18 as a weekend news anchor for radio station WQUA, based in Moline, Illinois. He became the station’s news director after working as an afternoon and morning presenter.
Kris made her television debut four years later, in 1981, on WQAD-TV in Moline. It was the station where her father worked for 35 years as a news anchor. He worked at WQAD from co-anchor and producer from weekend to weekday co-anchor.

Additionally, in a reader poll conducted by Kansas City Magazine in 2003 and 2001, he was named Best Reporter. He also received the coveted Barbara Potts Medal from Hope House for promoting community awareness of domestic abuse in Kansas City in 2004.
Kris was a member of the Greater Kansas City Hispanic Media Association. Through his participation in the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon, he has also been involved in raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Additionally, he has co-hosted local MDA telethons in Kansas City and Quad Cities since 1980.
Ketz was also inducted into the Silver Circle of the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) in October 2012, an elite group of professionals recognized for making a major contribution to television over the past 25 years.
