Laura Okmin is an American journalist who currently works as a reporter and is the third longest-serving sideline reporter in NHL history. She can be found covering the NHL league on FOX and the Westwood One NFL national radio games.
In her career journey, she has covered over 10 Super Bowls, received Olympic coverage of the London, Sochi and Pyeongchang games, and reported on multiple World Series and NBA and NHL championships. In addition, she has worked for CNN, TNT/TBS Sports, hosted national programs on FSN and was a side reporter for the Orange and Fiesta BCS Bowl games.
On the other hand, she started her career as a sports reporter and anchor in Montgomery, AL, Chattanooga TV and Sports Channel in Chicago where she traveled with the Chicago Bulls during the championship that led to an Emmy. Wanting to create, develop and own content, she started LO Productions in 2007 producing PROfiles, a 30-minute series introducing viewers to off-field NFL personalities that aired on FSN for two seasons.
Additionally, she speaks to companies and colleges across the country. It also provides media training for professional athletes, coaches, and NFL and MLB teams. Laura is the Media and Communications Consultant for the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association.
She is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in Journalism. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Kansas William Allen White School of Journalism and serves on the advisory board of the Los Angeles Commission on Sports and Entertainment.
