Leisha Hailey is an American actress and musician who gained fame for portraying the role of Alice Pieszecki in a famous series called The L Word from 2004 to 2009. She also reprized her role in the sequel to L Word called The L Word: Generation Q, which started airing on Netflix in 2019. Hailey has also gained more fame and recognition as a pop singer under a pop duo called The Murmurs. Leisha currently plays and sings in another band called Uh Huh Her,
Hailey was born in Okinawa, in the Okinawa Islands situated in USCAR also known as Japan, but she grew up in Bellevue, Nebraska, United States. She finished high school and high school in her hometown of Nebraska and moved to New York City at the age of seventeen. Leisha joined the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where she studied acting full-time. She also came out as a lesbian to her parents before moving to New York City.
Leisha began her showbiz career as a singer alongside her Academy classmate and best friend, Heather Gray. The two formed their first pop solo group called The Murmurs in 1991. The two released several hits and albums such as Lilith Fair. Leish and Heather then changed their stage name to Gush, but the group broke up after Leish started playing her role in LWord.
Leisha made her acting debut playing a supporting bisexual role in an episode of Boy Meets World. She then landed her lead role as Alice Pieszecki in all seventy episodes of L Word from 2004 to 2009. She also founded her own record label called Marfa Records during the same time.
Hailey even co-wrote Shakira’s 2005 hit called Don’t Bother in Oral Fcation Vol 2. Leisha then starred in movies and TV shows like La Cecina (2007), Makeup (2009), Quarries (2016) and Dead Ant. His most recent TV projects are Strangers (2017) and the new episodes of The L Word Generation Q since 2019.
