Lionel Bienvenu is an American journalist who currently works as a sports anchor and director of Denver 7 since joining the network in 2001. In 2019, he won an Emmy Award for “Best Sports Anchor” in Denver. Furthermore, he won Emmy Awards in 2011 and 2014 for “Best Sports Anchor” and one for his adventure show “Lionel’s World” in 2006. He was also named “Best TV Sports Announcer” in 2014 by Westword Magazine.
Born in Baltimore, he attended and graduated from Loyal University with a degree in broadcast journalism. After graduating, he landed his first job as a sports anchor and reporter in Lafayette, Louisiana, covering the USL’s Ragin’ Cajuns. After a few years of service there, he decided to move to WVUE-TV Fox 8 in New Orleans, where he hosted the “Jim Mora Show”.
However, he left New Orleans for Los Angeles in 1997 to work at Fox Sports Network. Lionel anchored the hour-long national show “FOX Sports News Prime Time”, which later morphed into “The National Sports Report”. Furthermore, he hosted “Baseball Today” on Fox.
